Pregnancy at Disneyland YAY Babies….Oh but what about that trip you planned…. 😱 You don’t have to worry here. On my recent trip to Disney in CA I had my best friend, who was 16 weeks expecting and nothing was stopping her from seeing the castle! To start, I would like to say that the pregnancy that was tracked on this trip was 15~16 weeks along. We did the D23 convention and Disney parks for a week. Our hotel was way closer to the convention center than the parks, so that was quite a walk as well. We also did not do every. single. ride. in both of the parks. Both of us are not a fan of getting wet in the parks, spinning rides were avoided for fear of it causing sickness, and some others we just didn’t feel the need. So this is reporting on about 95% of the rides. #1 - Watch for the BARS. With the little one right out front and center, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (DCA) use the old turn style system that requires you to push through a bar in order to go forward. These are in the front of the parks, as well as in a lot of queues for the rides through out both parks. Other bars to be wary of are some of the ride lap or safety bars themselves.
#2 - Watch for tight Spaces. Continuing with making space for the belly…like those areas of the bars in the rides, watch to see if you can make the squeeze. I read notes beforehand that talked about not going on the Nemo Submarines because of the small area, and yeah…if any further along I think we would have had to skip that one because you do have only a certain entrance you go into one way. And rides like the matterhorn and astro orbitor would have been hard to sit and stratal in the car when any further along or bigger the belly. #3 - It gets hot. Going in August, it did get hot but it was never above 92º and it is a dryer heat than we are used to in the south. Sun burn did happen with in two days, but healed up rather fast. Weather in the morning felt nice, would get really hot during around noon, and then by 4pm it would start to cool off. We stopped a lot and rested when getting hot, including propping up feet so the swelling wouldn’t start or get any worse. Swelling would start later in the day and be gone by morning, but in the last 2 days they swole and did not go down, even after sleep and rest, till we got back home. Carried lots of water and wet wipes to wipe off in the bathroom. #4 - WARNING: about passion fruit, a lot of drinks included it. Most drinks have the ingredients or at least some listed by the name, so read through and ask before ordering a drink with passion fruit in it. #5 - WARNING: about fish/mercury. There were signs up that told info at the carts and restaurants, but helpful to ask too. #6 - Ride It All. The thing that she definitely wanted me to tell is that oh my gosh you can do it all! Just pace yourself and don’t over do it. If that means going on one ride an hour and relaxing, then that’s fine. We spent a lot of our time with legs propped up, eating snacks, or just people watching, and it was a blast! Of course there is the small list of rides that are recommenced you do not ride if pregnant, but according to the pregnant lady…less then a handful of rides would be something she would not go on. (ohhhh but next time….) Of course what you ride is up to you, and this is her 2nd child so she knew how she felt, how far she could go, and etc. I would say learn your body and know your limits before you go. It was also great that she was past morning sickness too. Recommended skipping 100% if pregnant: -Incredicoaster -Mission: Breakout -Autopia #7 - A Place to Chill. Expecting Mothers and those with babies are always welcome in the Baby Care Centers. There is one in both parks and each center offers full-service, including; -On-duty Nurse -Nursing rooms, changing rooms, toddler bathrooms, feeding/cool down area -Kitchenette with sink, bottle warmers, microwave for needs -Vending machine of baby food, juice, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, medication, and more.
