7/5/2021 0 Comments Expecting in Walt Disney WorldNEW Guide on some warnings and things to expect when going to Disney expecting. I had another friend that was 4~5 months along when bringing her family to vacation. She followed my guide and everything was comfortable she said! "I actually even rode all the roller coasters and it was not too bad. I should have skipped the Dinosaur though, omg! Talk about rough..." Rides/Ride Bars: *Expected Mother Advisory Posted from Disney Magic Kingdom- Astro Orbiter: NO. You have to take an elevator up to the top of the people mover, yes on top of the people mover, it that high. Then you squeeze into this tiny rocket ship when you get up there. I’m 5’2” and 100lbs and it was small to me. I would vote to not ride if you are expecting. Barnstomer: YES*. This is a kiddy coaster, with a lap bar/seatbelt. It is rough, but goes moderate speed and is quick. Carts are normal size, so it’s easy to ride with kids and to fit in. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: Depends*. It is up to you to judge this one. If you are farther along and bigger I would say a no. It has a lap bar that is adjustable for the entire seat, the the ride has a lot of quick hills, turns, and jerks that might effect you if you are prone to nausea or want to avoid any major motion. Buzz Lightyear Spin: YES. This is a slow moving ride that is more of a “pod” and it does come down, but lots of room in the vehicle, just comes closer for you to reach the zappers. Just as a warning, this ride does have lots of flashing lights and strobes. Also has a room of the pod spinning. Dumbo Flying Elephant: YES. This ride is a staple. You just get in, with a classic seatbelt and rise up and the ride goes around in a circle for a short while. It is up to you to move your elephant up and down as well. Haunted Mansion: YES. This is a slow moving ride that is a “pod” and it does have a bar that comes down, but lots of room in the vehicle. I would recommend covering your stomach or put a bag on your lap maybe if you want to make sure you have room or you are not hit. One room does tilt backwards, but not for long. It’s A Small World: YES. Classic boat ride, free floating, takes ~25min and no belt or closure. Jungle Cruise: YES. Larger boat ride, you climb in, but a cast member is always there to help you aboard. Boat is on a track under water so no rough waters. No belts or closures. Mad Tea Party: Depends. Being bigger or farther along might make this ride hard to do. You get into a teacup that is a tight fit, it has a table in the middle. You could sit sideways if needed. If you are prone to nausea, the tea cups do spin fast, and you can make yours spin even faster if you spin the wheel in the middle. Magic Carpets of Aladdin: YES. You just get in, with a classic seatbelt and rise up, the ride goes around in a circle for a short while. It is up to you to move your carpet up and down as well. Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: YES. Such a cute kids ride. Get in a large hunny pot, and had a light lap bar, that you pull down as you need it, so doesn’t have to be tight. Ride is slow and has only slight motion, like bouncing with tigger. Peter Pan’s Flight: YES. Moving ride, you get into a pirate ship before taking off to Neverland and it has a self closing lap bar that is light, you can make sure it doesn’t come down too fast or hit. Pirates of the Caribbean: YES. Ride vehicle is a pirate boat, no closures or bars. Free floating boat, moves slow but has a small drop at the beginning. One scene also has water that shoots up, with cannons. The only hard motion would be at the end when you land back on the belt to pull the boat in, it causes a jerking. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: YES*. This is a rollercoaster, but it is the smoothest of the coasters. Had a very thick lap bar, and is per person. Cart is kind of small, so I would probably avoid if farther along or bigger. But ride wise, has the smallest drops and smoothest track. Warning, at the end the ride tends to have a sharp abrupt stop, causing a shocking jolt forward. Space Mountain: NO*. This ride is old and has a very tight ride vehicle. You have to stratal the seat in front of you, and the lap bar is thick, coming down on your lap. The ride is also well known for being rough and jerky with turns and drops you can not see int he dark. Splash Mountain: Depends*. The ride is actually mostly smooth with the exception of 2 drops. One is not too big, and the other is the main 52ft drop. Log vehicles do have lap bars that cover the entire row. You will get soaked on this ride as well. Journey of The Little Mermaid: YES. Smooth ride, similar to haunted mansion seating, with lap bar that comes down, but not hard and you should have plenty of room. Smooth ride all the way through. Mickey’s Philharmagic: YES. An indoor seated theater show on a screen that has 3D glasses/ effects. Hollywood Studios- Alien Swirling Saucers: Depends. Like in the name, this ride swirls, so if prone to nausea, the saucers do spin and swirl and kind of throw you around. Bellies shouldn’t be a problem, lots of room with a seat belt type closure. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway: YES. Lap bar covers entire row, and is not pressured or heavy. Ride is a trackless system, so you are gliding over the floor, with just some twist and turns between the scenes. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run: NO*. Seat strap is standard car seat belt. You will have jobs per your assignment, but the ride is violent due to the story. G-Force is used as well causing a feeling of high pressure. Rock n’ Roller Coaster: NO*. This ride is high speed, inversions and load noises. The take off alone goes 0 to 60 and has a lot go GeForce to it. Ride restrains come over your head and push against you as well. Slinky Dog Dash: Depends*. This roller coaster has individual heavy and thick lap bars (like Mine Train), and is not too fast or rough. One part of the ride does have a stop and then quick take off, at the “GO” part in the middle of the coster, so that may cause some feeling or force for some. Star Tours: NO*. This ride is a motion simulator that has a different story every time. This ride has a lot of jolts, G-force, and shaking during it. Could cause motion sickness, and unnecessary shock. Star Wars: Rise of Resistance: *Depends. Seatbelt individual in the ride vehicle, smooth trackless ride. However at the end is the worry- you do enter a little G-force and have some dropping and jerking sensations. About a 20-25min altogether ride, lots of pre-show areas before the ride. Warning of very bright flashing lights and strobes with loud noises and gun fire. Toy Story Mania!: YES. This ride is lots of fun, but it does spin. Sometimes slow, sometimes fast, so if motion sickness is a concern, be careful. This ride also does have 3D effects/glasses. Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: NO*. This ride is a free fall elevator that is high speed and high impact. Grab a snack while the family braves this one. You can always enjoy the queue and and take the last chance to exit, right before you load the elevator! E.P.C.O.T- Test Track: Depends*. This ride buckles you in with an average carseat strap. You go through a few rooms with and sharp turns “test”, but nothing too bad. After the indoor portion, you will go outside and take a speed test that goes one time around the building - about 60mph. If you are at a bigger stage or sensitive to motions I would skip. Soarin’: YES. This ride is actually quite relaxing unless you have a fear of heights. Your seat straps you in like a normal car seat across your lap. Then you are lifted up and the seats are just slightly moved to simulate the flying feeling with wind and scents blowing over you. Frozen Ever After: YES. This is a classic boat ride (just like Pirates in MK). It is smooth except a small drop where you get slightly splashed. Gran Fiesta Tour: YES. This is a classic boat ride, smooth the whole way. These boats and the queue is rather small space though, if you are at a further stage you might want to judge the room you will have. Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival: YES. Get out of the sun/rain with this cute short show. The seats do move slightly to go with the story, but it is not jarring. This ride does have 3D effects. Journey Into Imagination With Figment: YES. This is a slow constantly moving ride. Only warning with this one is that some of the rooms have smells good & very bad if you have a sensitivity while expecting. Living With The Land: YES. Slow moving boat ride through gardens, and the back of E.P.C.O.T to show where they grow and source fish and fresh food. No straps, and if you are further along, the front seat has plenty of room. Mission: SPACE: NO*. There are many warnings on this ride for everyone due to the amount of G-Force you endure. They will not even let an expectant mother ride this. The Seas with Nemo: YES. Just a continuous moving clam seat ride and is a smooth ride though. Clam closes up as lap “bar” but should have plenty of room. Spaceship Earth: YES. Continuous moving cart, with no lap bar or belt. Slow moving ride, just mild scents through some rooms. At the end you do lean back as you are going down. Animal Kingdom- Flight of Passage: NO*. Ride vehicle has you straddle a bike type of thing, and you face forward, laying down to hold the handles infant of you. The “bar” locks you over your back, and you can not move up or sit up during the entire ride. There is a lot of motion and simulation with this ride, I would not recommend it due to the pressure on the stomach and the 3D/motion. Dinosaur: NO*. This is a jeep ride vehicle, with a seat belt strap. The journey does have a ton of jarring, jerks, fast stops, and shaking. I would be very wary of this ride if you are prone to motion sickness or keeping clear of hard movements. Expedition Everest: NO*. This is a roller coaster, it has backwards tracks, maybe a loop, and some high speed, large drops and fast motions. Ride cart is small with a tight large lap bar. Tough to be a Bug!: Depends. This is an indoor theater with 3D effects. The seats will have effects too, like bugs crawling or bees stinging in your back. There are really bad smells as well if you are sensitive to that. Kali River Rapids: Depends*. This is a water ride and you will get soaked. There is not really a made track, so the large raft with spin as it is going through the rapids. The ride is rough as it bounces and there are drops as well. Ride straps are like car seat belts. Kilimanjaro Safaris: YES*. This is a large vehicle with no lap bars, but you ride along and see the animals in their habitats. The ride is bumpy and you do stop and go some as the animals are in view. Navi’ River Journey: YES. Wide boats with no constraints. Dark ride and smooth boat ride through an illuminated musical jungle. TriceraTop Spin: YES. Classic seatbelt strap. You rise up, the ride goes around in a circle for a short while. It is up to you to move up and down. *Expected Mother Advisory Posted from Disney 12/12/2019 0 Comments Pregnancy in DisneylandPregnancy at Disneyland YAY Babies….Oh but what about that trip you planned…. 😱 You don’t have to worry here. On my recent trip to Disney in CA I had my best friend, who was 16 weeks expecting and nothing was stopping her from seeing the castle! To start, I would like to say that the pregnancy that was tracked on this trip was 15~16 weeks along. We did the D23 convention and Disney parks for a week. Our hotel was way closer to the convention center than the parks, so that was quite a walk as well. We also did not do every. single. ride. in both of the parks. Both of us are not a fan of getting wet in the parks, spinning rides were avoided for fear of it causing sickness, and some others we just didn’t feel the need. So this is reporting on about 95% of the rides. #1 - Watch for the BARS. With the little one right out front and center, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (DCA) use the old turn style system that requires you to push through a bar in order to go forward. These are in the front of the parks, as well as in a lot of queues for the rides through out both parks. Other bars to be wary of are some of the ride lap or safety bars themselves.
#2 - Watch for tight Spaces. Continuing with making space for the belly…like those areas of the bars in the rides, watch to see if you can make the squeeze. I read notes beforehand that talked about not going on the Nemo Submarines because of the small area, and yeah…if any further along I think we would have had to skip that one because you do have only a certain entrance you go into one way. And rides like the matterhorn and astro orbitor would have been hard to sit and stratal in the car when any further along or bigger the belly. #3 - It gets hot. Going in August, it did get hot but it was never above 92º and it is a dryer heat than we are used to in the south. Sun burn did happen with in two days, but healed up rather fast. Weather in the morning felt nice, would get really hot during around noon, and then by 4pm it would start to cool off. We stopped a lot and rested when getting hot, including propping up feet so the swelling wouldn’t start or get any worse. Swelling would start later in the day and be gone by morning, but in the last 2 days they swole and did not go down, even after sleep and rest, till we got back home. Carried lots of water and wet wipes to wipe off in the bathroom. #4 - WARNING: about passion fruit, a lot of drinks included it. Most drinks have the ingredients or at least some listed by the name, so read through and ask before ordering a drink with passion fruit in it. #5 - WARNING: about fish/mercury. There were signs up that told info at the carts and restaurants, but helpful to ask too. #6 - Ride It All. The thing that she definitely wanted me to tell is that oh my gosh you can do it all! Just pace yourself and don’t over do it. If that means going on one ride an hour and relaxing, then that’s fine. We spent a lot of our time with legs propped up, eating snacks, or just people watching, and it was a blast! Of course there is the small list of rides that are recommenced you do not ride if pregnant, but according to the pregnant lady…less then a handful of rides would be something she would not go on. (ohhhh but next time….) Of course what you ride is up to you, and this is her 2nd child so she knew how she felt, how far she could go, and etc. I would say learn your body and know your limits before you go. It was also great that she was past morning sickness too. Recommended skipping 100% if pregnant: -Incredicoaster -Mission: Breakout -Autopia #7 - A Place to Chill. Expecting Mothers and those with babies are always welcome in the Baby Care Centers. There is one in both parks and each center offers full-service, including; -On-duty Nurse -Nursing rooms, changing rooms, toddler bathrooms, feeding/cool down area -Kitchenette with sink, bottle warmers, microwave for needs -Vending machine of baby food, juice, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, medication, and more. Rides not done: *Splash Mountain, Dumbo, TeaCups, Astro Orbitor, Autopia, Gadget Go Coster, Golden Zephyr, Goofy Sky School, Grizzly River Run, Mission: BREAKOUT, Incredicoaster, Emotional Whirlwind, Critter Carousel, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Monsters Inc, Pixar Pal-A-Round, Radiator Racers, Silly Symphony Swings. 1/6/2018 0 Comments 2018!I am up writing my New Years emails, and reaching out to current, future and past guest of mine.
